SCAT Enterprises caught up with one of AFR’s sponsored racers, Russ Morseman, driver of 44 big block modified and small block modified Super Dirt Series, STSS. This three-time Woodhull Raceway track champion gave us the rundown of his most recent races.

We traveled to Woodhull Raceway again this weekend and started third in our heat. I finished second, but if I could have cleared the second place car lap earlier I think we would have been contending for the win. In the feature I started seventh and quickly moved to second, with me chasing down the leader but getting passed at the line – finishing third. The car keeps getting better and better and reacting well to the changes made. We are all having fun and it’s nice seeing all the hard work start to pay off!

We traveled to Woodhull Raceway for the $5,500 to Win 50 Lap Race, the biggest race of the year. We drew 23 at the gate which started us third in the third heat. We were three wide for a couple laps for the lead. Right before I went out, it rained, which made the bottom a little slick and I couldn’t get the run I needed off the bottom to pass for second. We were by far the fastest car in our heat race, and ended up finishing third. We redrew six for the feature and I quickly made it to fourth. I had a long green flag run to lap 39, which had me catching the second and third place cars pretty quickly. During that run my engine started running warm around 230 degrees, so I started rolling in and out of gas earlier, which worked in keeping the temperature steady. I was hoping for a caution, and then one came out on lap 39. We regrouped, but after that caution my car got wicked tight in the middle of the corner and we ended up riding it out for an awesome fourth place finish. Our new setup worked great, and I’m excited to go back again this weekend until we get it too tight and then back it down some. All in all, it’s our third top 5 finish in three weeks, and I want to thank you so much for being part of our team. We couldn’t do it without you guys!
